Artificial Sweetner Can Be Toxic For Dogs

gum1.jpgI recently read an article about the fact that xylitol, an ingredient found in sugarless gum, can be lead to a sudden drop in blood sugar, as well as cause liver disease and seizures in dogs. Evidently, you should always be cautious when it comes to any products containing xylitol, around pets.

Foods that contain xylitol would be avocados, chocolate (we knew that), garlic, grapes, macadamia nuts, onions, and raisins.

The good news is….coffee is ok.

That’s strange. When my dog was having heart problems, they told us to give him raisins.

That is strange. I wonder why. Maybe it depends on the kind of dog or whatever the problem was he needed that type of sugar.

It has to do with their high potassium level being good for their heart. He had an enlarged heart.

Well, he lived about 13 years, which is a good life. Died a year ago last month, not too long after my 25th birthday.

    May he rest in peace.
