It’s not whether you win or lose it’s whether there’s a Starbucks near by.

Good Morning and welcome to mystarbucks blog.  This blog is all about my love for Starbucks coffee.  I am in no way affiliated with Starbucks. I have never worked there or have I been a part of their organization  but I sure have contributed mucho funds for their coffee.  I’ve been drinking Starbucks coffee for 20 years and continue to search out any kiosk or store whenever I am away from home in order to satisfy my coffee cravings.   In case you’re wondering, Starbucks originated in the Pike Place Market in Seattle Washington in 1971.   Could that be because it is always raining and cold and the only thing to lift your spirit on a day like that is a good cup of coffee?  Who cares, right?  I mean just give me a good cup o joe and I’ll be on my way.  I remember several years ago taking my two boys to Kansas City Missouri for  a baseball tournament and the best part about the whole trip was not whether we won or lost or even how we played the game but that there was a Starbucks right next to the hotel we stayed in.   Today is a wet and rainy day and I am reminded of the Pacific Northwest and as I reflect I enjoy one of the best cups of Starbucks coffee I have had in a long time.

I think you are a total loser because it’s not about the coffee it’s about the Chai.

  2. 2006 October 26

Wow! Someone really likes her Chai. Don’t let me get in the way of your Chai with coffee, I like Chai too. Starbucks makes the best Chai Tea lattes in the world. How many pumps do you take?

Hi there! You asked where I found my swirlz… I actually just googled swirlz. Real creative huh? :) Good luck with your new blog!

  4. 2006 October 26

Hey thanks Erin! Google is great isn’t it? Not as great as Starbucks but it is right up there.

  5. 2006 October 26

No problem! :) by the way, I am way too broke with my horde of kids to drink Starbuckies every day…. but we do have Starbuckies Friday in my office. And we call it that because it so special! Seriously.

  6. 2006 October 26

That is awesome. They just added a Starbucks inside my local Target store. Can you believe it? I live in Missouri and they just put a Starbucks in my area, needless to say I was thrilled. These midwesterners are a little behind the coastal states. But inside of Target…now that is impressive. That just makes my Target shopping all the more enjoyable but spendy.

There are no Starbucks near me but when I go to Wal-Fart I buy some of those Mocha Frappies. Love them! Thx for visiting commenting on my blog. Feedback is always welcome!:)

    Laterz!

Can Starbucks solve the world’s problems? No, but life does seem a little bit better when you are sipping a hot mug of coffee. I think Kathy was a bit harsh with the name calling – maybe she was overdue for her afternoon Chai? It doesn’t matter if you are a caf, decaf, no whip, lite foam, nonfat, Chai or straight up espresso. Isn’t there enough Starbucks love in the world so that we can all get along?

I love strolling the aisles at Target looking for bargains while sipping my latte purchased from Starbucks inside the store. I’m sure this has added to amount of items I purchase at Target but wasn’t that the point?

    Happy Sipping!

OOOOOO…I’m actually craving a coffee. Actually I think Starbucks can solve some of my problems. What does that say about my problems? I don’t know. Maybe next time Kathy decides to grace us with her blog she will think of others before herself and get herself a Chai and then we can all share in the Starbucks Love together…

I have to laugh at my experience after actually watching you order one of those “frappe” things when you were visiting here on the West Coast. Next time I drove by the Starbucks, my car made and automatic right turn into the Starbuck’s parking lot.
The barrista had to walk me through my order, as I had no idea where to start. “Hot or Cold, Mocha or not, double expresso?”
I think I must have said yes to everything, but for sure the double part. I sipped that thing on an empty stoumach, and about 2/3 the way through, I broke out in a caffine sweat, my eyes blurred, and it was all I could do to remain in my chair until the lecture I was attending was over.
Next time, I want to take a proper ordering at Starbucks lesson from you before I try again!

  11. 2006 October 27

Oh, be careful what you wish for. I have been known to get unsuspecting friends hooked on various hot and cold frothy coffee drinks. Just look at Kathy’s comment. She is so addicted to her Iced, Grande, non-fat, two extra pumps, Chai latte, that she can’t even see straight. But if you’re up for it I’ll get you started.

  12. 2006 October 27

Man, at first I thought this blog was a joke but now that I’ve read what you’ve replied back to people who have commented you.. I see now that you are just mega-crazy about Starbucks! You must work there, right? You should just buy stock in it, too! I’m definitely a Venti Tazo Black Iced Tea Sweetened kind of chick :) Good Luck with your blog.. I’ll keep reading! And check me out if you’re into celebrity gossip :) Always

  13. 2006 October 27

    shel,
I love celebrity gossip and I do love Starbucks coffee. I don’t work there and I wish I owned stock. Tazo Chai is one of my favorites in fact I have it at home too so if I can’t get out in the morning I can just whip up a Tazo Chai non-fat latte myself and all is well with the world. Hey I will check out your blog and put you in my blogroll.

Ah good old StarBucks i love the stuff. Its it now becoming a huge thing in Australia. Thanks for your reply to my blog MrSrarBucks. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

  15. 2006 October 27

Chai? Tazo black tea? No, no NO! You must drink black coffee, nothing added! No flavoring! No “room for cream”! Drink real, scalding hot, blaze-the-hair-off-your-head, dark as onyx, evil as hell COFFEE! If you’re going to love Starbucks, love it like you MEAN IT!!!

  16. 2006 October 27

lol you seem to really know alot about starbucks. Oh and thanks for stopping by my blog, really appreciated. I know you’ve just started your blog, but i’ll make sure i keep coming back to check it out.

  17. 2006 October 27

I do love the black stuff, but I have a bit of a sweet tooth as well so I do try to mix it up a bit. It also depends on my mood and the weather outside. In the hot midwestern summers I have to go ice coffee there just is no other way but now it is very fallandcool so I am slowly warming up to the hot “love it like you mean it” coffees. Now is the time of year for Starbucks wonderful Pumpkin loaf. I do have to exercise 3 times as hard if I indulge myself but it is so worth it.

OK, you can give me a beginner lesson in Starbucks. Cannot afford to be embarassed again when I don’t know what to order. But….start me easy. Only, maybe less than six parts to my order. No fair with the old routine from “Frazier” of “half calf quarter latte mocha back de-caf” thing!

  19. 2006 October 27

I’m not sure if we have Starbucks in Australia….I’m on the Gold Coast I will look in the phone book and see

  20. 2006 October 27

    shaymus
you must find one! I will pray that you do!!

  21. 2006 October 27

    Penni-
the best thing to do is to actually park the car and go inside. Then we can browse all the aromatic choices. After we order we can sit down in one of their comfortable chairs and just enjoy our coffe with each other’s company. Now that is a moment.

  22. 2006 October 27

Don’t tell me about midwestern summers — I lived in Kansas City for five years . . . WITHOUT AC! I know heat. I know humidity. But it doesn’t matter. Hot, black coffee makes you stronger. It will inure you to the heat. Go on — be strong! YOU CAN DO IT!

  23. 2006 October 27

Without a/c now that is just a sin. I would not make it here if there were no air. Tomorrow, Ervin, I will drink a totally black cup just for you. And I will toast you and be a stronger person for it. Thank you for the encouragement and steady on!!

  24. 2006 October 27

I’m nurturing a fixation on the Kenyan blend. Dee-licious! Black, no sugar, and brush my teeth right after :)

  25. 2006 October 27

    Do you take milk?

  26. 2006 October 27

occasionally – cause milk ain’t milk these days

  27. 2006 October 27

And coffee ain’t coffee unless it’s BLACK!

It’s after 10, I’m nowhere near tired, and I have to get early tomorrow and earn my daily bread again. Sleep? Bah! Keep pourin’!

  28. 2006 October 27

Well whataya know! Theres 5 here on the Gold coast…I will check one out tomorrow…Got any suggestions?

  29. 2006 October 27

    Shaymus
Start out slow. Maybe just a basic cup of black coffee…try their House Blend. Or if you have a sweet tooth try the Chai warm or cold it is awesome. A mocha of any kind is great to for the chocolate lover. If you’re a health nut try their green tea Frappuccino. Let us know how you like it. Praise the Lord you found a Starbucks.

  30. 2006 October 27

Too funny. A total Starbucks blog. I don’t have one close to me anymore, in the wilds of Montana, but I know where the nearest one is located. As a former Starbucks employee, I know that you must be serious when you know how many pumps of stuff you want in your drinks. BTW, as employees, people like you were known as our rent payments. If you are nice, you are loved by baristas, if not well watch out. Regular kind customers are the best.

Shaymus, my recommendation is a caramel macchiato. My personal fav hot drink is a triple grande caramel macchiato, preferably made with the old machines not the automatic ones, ideally made by one of the baristas who trained me, Taylor. But since you’re in Australia that’s not going to happen. Favorite cold drink – iced grande 2 pump vanilla Americano with a little room for cream.
    Have I established my credentials?

    Absolutely!! Let’s link!!

    Kristen:

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I sent you a more lengthy e-mail about my thoughts on Starbucks and a few other things you mentioned. You’ll have to tell me how you came to reside in St. Louis, MO, and what specifically you like about Chicago. Hope you had a good Starbucks fix before reading this. Hee hee.

had just enough to clean the house and get back to the computer to blog. There’s always room for more…
Downtown Chicago is so cool. We are huge Cubs and Bears fans. We were transfered here 7 yrs ago from Portland, Oregon for my hubbies job. I will never go back. I love the midwest and now that there is a Starbucks so close by there is no reason to go back.
I look forward to more poetry…..

  34. 2006 October 27

Yes, But only if I dont Die from your advice.

  35. 2006 October 28

How fun was that…..a spin of comments that made me laugh so much! I have to get over to all of your blogs. What is there not to love about Starbucks? I love my 5-9 a.m. shift there, know just about everyone by name, and have actually graduated from Espresso to BLACK COFFEE! I feel that smirk Ervin…. But I must say, Anniversary Blend beats all others. And for Kenya lovin Fluidspirit…try it with the Iced Lemon Pound Cake and you will see the cloudy skies part and the sunshine come out. I discovered that while being taught to pair foods with coffee’s.

If you wanna try something new and different, try this….
Grande, Toffee Nut, Carmel Macchiato with added Mocha drizzle on top also…..sorta gets that snickers effect. mmmmmm…

Question for Chai lovin Kathy…..someone ordered a
Vanilla, Mocha, No Water, Soy Chai (full pumps of all). Yikes! Would you ever try that? I did and actually liked it but would probably only make that a once a year drink.

I LOVE THIS SITE ALL READY, CONVERSATION IS GREAT HERE…

Honestly I think Kathy is so addicted to her Chai she would not even try anything else. She’s using about 8 pumps in her Venti iced chai. It must be the ginger. My favorite pastry is definately the lemon poppyseed scone but they don’t have those here in Missouri. I’m just glad there is a store at all. I had espresso for the first time in 1988 when I was in Italy with a friend and when I came home to the US I was hooked on lattes. I’m glad we’re connected too.

    Hi everyone!

I’ve worked for Starbucks Australia for two years just about (it’s been a fantastic company to work for). We’re pretty much the same as the Starbucks in America, but with different accents of course. Mocha is pronounced “mok-ha,” and many of our customers order “lah-days” rather than lattes. Kathy would be very pleased to learn that that chai syrup is very popular here, although most people drink it with soy milk (have you tried it that way? Also with cinnamon!).

Hope you all go on enjoying your Starbucks drinks and maybe some day I’ll bump into you!
